Eagles & Hawks
North
America has many species of hawks, and two eagle species.
Eagles are residents year round, although they migrate down
from the northern areas during the winter. Some hawks remain in
North America year round, but others migrate down to Central
& South America. The twice yearly migration of these
magnificent birds is one of the most spectacular sites in the
natural world.

Bald and golden eagles
are resident in North America year round, although there is
seasonal movement down from the Arctic in the autumn months.
The Rocky Mountain Eagle Research Foundation has field stations
set up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains to count the birds as
they fly over. They're always looking for
volunteers, and it's an
experience not to be missed!
